Staff and Leadership Development
GrantPathways offers individualized and small group trainings in the following staff development areas:
- Executive Director training instructs staff in the following: leadership development, setting up a strong board, fundraising strategies and developing a fundraising plan, developing programs that are measurable and that exhibit best practices, critical policies and procedures, the role of the Executive Director, community networking, applicable laws for non-profits, and strategic planning.
- Program Director training instructs staff in the following: leadership development, devising effective programs that are measurable and attractive to funders, setting program goals, setting objectives for each program, setting program guidelines, developing measurable outcomes and tools, and devising evaluation plans. With these components in place, agencies are much more effective at attracting donors and grant funds.

- Grant Writer Training instructs staff in the following: new research methodologies, developing more effective grant proposals, improving grant budgets, and working with program staff to get what you need.
Board Development: GrantPathways offers the following Board trainings:
- Board President Training provides one-on-one or small groups instruction with Board Presidents to help them to chart a path for what they want to accomplish as a board president. This training will be custom-crafted to meet the needs of each Board President. Potential subjects include leadership development, the roles and responsibilities of a board president, how to motivate your fellow board members, conducting effective meetings, setting the example of board member excellence, and leaving your own legacy.
- Board Assessment provides a self-assessment to board members that consists of a self-rating tool that uses a rating scale in different focus areas along with three narrative responses. GrantPathways summarizes these assessments and creates a detailed report outlining the areas in which the board needs to improve along with a suggested plan accomplish these improvements.
- Team Building for Boards is a 1.5 hour facilitated process in which you and your board members learn keys to working better as a team. Participants will learn more about their strengths and weaknesses and those of each team member and then brainstorm for ways in which they can build a more effective team and a board that best meets the needs of your agency. (This can also be focused for faith-based agencies as a 2.5 hour session.)
- Knowing Your Responsibilities as a Board Member is a vital training for all board members. In this 2 hour session you will learn the types of boards, board versus staff roles, critical policies and procedures for board/agency safety and stability, and the importance of protecting yourself as a board member through insurance.
- Raising Funds and Friends as a Board Member is a 1.5 hour training that focuses on the responsibilities of board members to serve as fundraisers and friend raisers in the community and provides practical ways in which you as a board member can fulfill this responsibility.
